Hi folks :-)

Just a quick hello from Melbourne/AUS.
Saw a post from Kosmic on ADVrider, followed my nose, landed here...you know how it goes.
Thought I'll be a sticky-beak and already found a heap of great pics (some of you guys certainly know how to handle a camera), so
I'll keep going with the ride-reports and try to read myself into the place.
Only came to the gravel late....and that's pretty much all there is for me. Rather a "softroader" than an offroader.
Born in Europe, migrated to Oz, always been into mountains, hiking, climbing, skiing, outdoors....+ BIKES!
Traveled a bit around Europe and the Alps, AUS, Tasmania, New Zealand, West Coast US, Caribbean, etc.
Running a little, local forum and organizing regular trips/ rides, locally and overseas, has turned into the meaning of life, somehow.  smile

Home is here  http://www.austouring.com  (hope that's ok, boss)
And I might as well pop a few pix in from a recent ride.
Cheerio
Pete/ Melbourne

Mid February....and chancing the record temperatures  (115F), the sizzling heat turned the high country into a frying pan.....just to finish off the 4-day run in grey drizzle and a lousy 13C on the run home.

Some new byways near Mansfield...

...turning into a coarse-rock dustbowl just above Lake Buffalo.

A dip in the lake and some coldies in the treetops above Myrtleford did the trick.

Some overgrown twintrack around Yackandandah before chasing the twisties.

...and more new tracks around the Gibb Range and Nariel Gap.

Corryong at your feet, Australia's highest peak, Mt. Kosciousco, in the distance

The promise of a  "golden morning"....

An old bridge....

...and the long-awaited "calendar-track" near Omeo.

Finally rolling into cooler climes towards Buchan, a beer at the new pub and the final run into Bruthen for the meetup with the OpenRoader Crew.

New roads + tracks, awesome riding, stumping scenery, head-scratchin' stories, cold beer and endless laughs....

....what a RIPPER!!  clap clap

If it wasn't for all the funny trees, a guy might think you were riding in Idaho.  Oh! wait!  I didn't see any cows.  Ok, not Idaho.

Didn't want to ping you on ADV, I'm sure you were busy finding a fix.

Hi  :-)
There's certainly no time for boredom.
And yes, the southern parts of Oz offer some exceptional countryside and nature.
There's a lot more to the place than a million sandhills, Ayers Rock and red dust...

No fear...cows, sheep, wombats, possums, snakes, echidnas etc...no shortage on surprises  thumb
Thanks for the welcome, folks

Had a poke around the BustedBuzzard thing...awesome  clap
Brings back memories, too.

Right on, Glitch...

Team Ruptured Buzzard does roam around the Teton area of operations. Very glad you had a chance to sample it!

This pic calls to mind many previous personal contacts and some outrageously good times I've had with my brothers from Oz. Also looks reminiscent of some shenanigans that could happen after too many Darwin Stubbies. Just sayin....     lol
 Freaky
 beer

All the best,

Someone mentioned ...BEER?  yikes
You guys got some spectacular brews over there, oh yeah!
Took our mate Jimbo a week to drag us away from Oregon and across the border into Idaho for a bit of a dry-out  lol
